Winners of 27th Cairo Int’l Festival for Experimental Theatre

The 27th edition of the festival concluded its activities on 11 September with the announcement of the winners

During the official closing ceremony of the 27th edition of the Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theatre, the winners of a variety of prizes in three categories have been revealed.

The ceremony took place on the stage of Cairo’s National Theatre in the presence of Culture Minister Ines Abdel-Dayem and the festival’s president Alaa Abd El-Aziz Sulaiman.

The jury for the Egyptian performances, which was headed by former director of Hanager Theatre Hoda Wasfi, included actor Sayed Ragab, scenographer and interior designer Mohamed Al-Gharabawi, theatre director Hany El-Metennawy and conductor and composer Hisham Gabr.

The awards and recognitions were distributed as follows:

Egyptian performances competition

First Prize: The Rose and Crown directed by Ibrahim Ashraf
Second Prize: Moftah El Shohra (The Key to Fame) directed by Doaa Hamza

Certificate of recognition for scenography: 
Blindness, directed by Said Mansi

Certificate of recognition for design and choreography:
Raya and Sakina by Karima Bedeir

International competition
