The compelling photo exhibition, titled “The UAE Through a Photographer’s Lens” by veteran Bahraini photographer Abdullah Al Khan, is scheduled to relocate to Ajman on Friday, December 29.
The photo exhibition will be held as part of the poetic event “Bawh Al Qawafi”, organized through a collaboration between the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation and the Ajman Tourism Development Department.
The “Bawh Al Qawafi” poetry evening, set to take place at the Ajman Museum in the Ajman Heritage District, on Friday, at 7pm, will showcase a poetry evening, folk music performances, and a popular market. The cultural spectacle, seamlessly blending the richness of poetry with Emirati heritage, promises to be an engaging and captivating experience for the audience.
“The UAE Through a Photographer’s Lens” exhibition was orchestrated by the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation on December 5, in celebration of the UAE’s 52nd Union Day. Displaying a rare collection of 126 pictures, the photo exhibition drew the attendance of a diverse audience comprising national, cultural, and prominent public figures.
The exhibition provides a visual odyssey, encapsulating the essence and liveliness of the UAE’s everyday life and its diverse cultural heritage. Abdullah Al Khan, who has been documenting life in the UAE’s varied cities since 1963, expertly captures these moments through his lens. Drawing from his extensive experience as the official photographer of the Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco), his photographs vividly portray the nation’s evolution and vibrancy.
Over these years, Abdullah Al Khan extensively journeyed across multiple regions with his camera, capturing the essence of people’s lives, public spaces, and a diverse array of details—from roads, beaches, and bridges to various other aspects of everyday life.
The collaboration with the Ajman Tourism Development Department is in line with the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which was signed between the Al Owais Foundation and the Department back in March.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) encompassed multiple facets of collaboration, emphasizing the enhancement of mutual relations between the Al Owais Cultural Foundation and Ajman Tourism Department.
The MOU aimed to achieve common objectives by fostering consultation, exchanging views and experiences, conducting studies, workshops, seminars, publishing materials, and sharing scientific and cultural information between the two entities.
It also outlined plans for implementing joint projects, collaborative initiatives, and organizing events focused on addressing intellectual, social, heritage, scientific, and cultural matters in Ajman.
As a kickstart to their collaboration, the two entities co-organized the “Echoes of Armenia” dance show, drawing an overwhelming turnout from the public and enthusiastic attendees, showcasing the success of the event.”
