Sharjah Honours Moroccan Poet Mohamed Achaari in Tetouan

In collaboration by the Sharjah Department of Culture and the Moroccan Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, the House of Poetry of Tetouan will host the 5th edition of the Moroccan Poets Festival from June 29 to July 1 in Tetouan city.

The event will feature poets participating for the first time, representing various regions of the Kingdom of Morocco, as well as different generations and forms of poetic writing, with a diversity of voices and languages of Moroccan poetry, including Amazigh, Arabic, Hassaniya, and the Zajal. Moroccan poets writing in foreign languages will also be present.

The festival will begin on Saturday (June 29) at Cinema Espanol Tetouan with a ceremony in a tribute to poet Mohamed Achaari and journalist Zoubaida El Fathi, followed by a poetic evening with the participation of Mohamed Ali Rebaoui, Sakina Habiballah and Aboufiras Brouk.

The opening ceremony will be headlined by the renowned Lebanese singer Jaheda Wehbe, known as the poet of Arabic song. The evening will culminate with the theatrical play “Ja w Jab” performed by the National Theater Troupe.

The ceremony will also feature a special meeting with the honored poet Mohammed Achaari, who will be interviewed by poet Najib Khadari.
