Mohammed Bin Rashid Library Named Cultural Personality Of The Year For Al Owais Creativity Award 2023

The Board of Directors of the Cultural and Scientific Association in Dubai has endorsed the selection of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library as the Cultural Personality of the Year for the 33rd edition of the Al Owais Creativity Award 2023.

The selection was approved during the Association’s Board meeting, which was chaired by Bilal Al Budoor. The meeting was attended by Ali Obaid Al Hameli, Vice-Chairman of the Board and Chairman of the Media Committee; Dr. Salah Al Qasim, Managing Director of the Association; Jamal Al Khayyat, Financial Manager; Maryam Al Thani, Head of the Library and Publishing Committee; Ali Al Sharif, Chairman of the Youth Committee; and Eng. Rashad Bukhash, Chairman of the Competitions and Awards Committee.

The Cultural Personality of the Year Award is granted to a notable UAE citizen who has made significant and influential contribution to supporting and promoting cultural life in all its fields, colours, and forms.

Since its inception in 1990, the Al Owais Creativity Award has been celebrating individuals and institutions that have left a remarkable mark in the world of thought, culture, and literature. Over the past years, the award honoured more than 29 cultural personalities and institutions that have played a leading role in the cultural and creative work and intellectual contributions in the UAE.

Since its inauguration, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library has become a cultural landmark and a unique beacon of knowledge, culture and creativity, symbolizing cultural and linguistic depth through its rich and continuous series of events and initiatives.

The library is dedicated to organizing a wide range of activities and hosting numerous local, regional, and international cultural festivals and forums. These events highlight the beauty and importance of the Arabic language and encourage youth and children to make reading a daily practice. The library also provides language competitions that motivate young people to explore the language in interactive and creative ways.

Since its opening, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library has organized more than 600 educational events and training workshops for various segments of society. It has also harnessed technology to deliver engaging educational content focused on the Arabic language.
