In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of renowned poet Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais (1925–2025), the Al Owais Cultural Foundation, in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre, will host a symposium titled “100 Years Since the Birth of Sultan Al Owais: A Beacon of Arab Culture”. The event is set to take place on Monday, April 28, as part of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF 2025).
The symposium will feature the participation of Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr, Chairman of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library Foundation, Saudi journalist and writer Mohammed Reda Nasrallah, along with Naji Beydoun and Algerian poet and novelist Haneen Omar. The event will be moderated by Abdul Hamid Ahmed, the Foundation’s Secretary General.
The symposium is part of the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation’s year-long centennial celebrations (1925–2025), which include a series of cultural events honouring the poet’s literary contributions and enduring human legacy.
UNESCO has designated 2025 as the International Year of Culture in honour of Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais, celebrating his enduring literary and cultural legacy as the poet of love, beauty, and eloquence.
