The Emirates Writers Union concluded its participation in the Fourth Gulf Cultural Forum, held in the Bahraini capital, Manama, on Monday, February 24, 2025.
The three-day event, organized by the Bahrain Writers Association in collaboration with the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, saw the participation of heads and delegations from the GCC literary and cultural unions and clubs.
Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister of Bahrain, received the attendees at his office in Al Gudaibiya Palace. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Ramzan bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Bahraini Minister of Information; Dr. Rashid Najm, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Writers Association and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Fourth GCC Cultural Forum; as well as the heads of the GCC literary and cultural unions and clubs participating in the forum.
During the forum, Sheikha Al Jabri, Deputy Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Writers Union, Director of the Abu Dhabi Branch and Head of the Union’s delegation to the forum, announced that the UAE will host the fifth edition of the forum, organized by the Emirates Writers Union.
The decision to host the next edition of the forum reaffirms support for joint GCC efforts aimed at enriching the cultural scene, promoting dialogue and intellectual openness, and building a lasting bridge of cooperation.
The Union participated in the cultural events accompanying the forum with a research paper presented by researcher Jamal Matar, titled “Beginnings and Hope”. In his paper, Matar highlighted the Emirati theatre and its impact on the Arab world.
Poet Maryam Al Zarooni also participated by reciting a selection of her poems, which explored themes of patriotism, poems dedicated to her father and others on emotional expressions of personal feelings.
