The book titled ‘Hamad Bin Khalifa Abu Shehab – Biography and Impact’ is a key addition to the Emirati Library. It underscores the life of Emirati poet Hamad Bin Khalifa Abu Shehab (1936-2002), one of the most prominent figures who left a lasting mark on the country’s literary landscape.
In addition, the book sheds light on various facets of Abu Shehab’s intellectual and artistic personality, using an engaging storytelling approach to emphasize the relationships between the author and the poet, despite their age difference. It highlights several experiences the author shared with Abu Shehab, offering a comprehensive perspective that reveals a unique and exceptional individual. The book also explores Abu Shehab’s strong connections with the nation’s leaders and notable figures, showcasing his role as a bridge between two generations of poets in both expressive and popular traditional literature
Through the book, the author highlights the profound influence of poet Abu Shehab on UAE folk literature. Abu Shehab made significant contributions to the establishment and development of this literary genre in the post-union era and played a key role in promoting traditional literature through the media. Notably, the author also includes all of Abu Shehab’s literary works, offering a comprehensive view of his contributions to Emirati culture and literature.
The Rashid Al Khadar Museum, where the book signing ceremony was held, is a significant cultural landmark in the Emirate of Ajman. It plays a vital role in supporting art and poetry while serving as a dynamic platform for cultural and artistic events that connect the past with the present. The museum also contributes to preserving Emirati heritage and fostering efforts that reflect and celebrate the UAE’s cultural identity.
Last year, the Ajman Tourism Development Department and the Al Owais Cultural Foundation signed a cooperation agreement aimed at promoting cultural events that enrich the nation’s cultural landscape. The agreement focuses on spotlighting authors and intellectuals who strengthen the UAE’s cultural identity, fostering a deeper appreciation for the country’s literary and artistic contributions.
