The Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation will host a literary evening at 7 pm on Wednesday, March 27, 2019, under the title of “Reading Event by Young Authors”. The event will be held on the occasion of the UAE’s month of reading, which aims at strengthening culture and establishing reading as a daily habit among all members of the society.
The event will see the participation of a number of young authors, who participated in the short-story writing workshop of the Dubai International Writing Program launched by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation in 2013. The participating authors Ahmed Bin Mohammed, Ahmed Abdul Aati Nour, Amal Al Kaabi, Fatima Al Ameri, Mariam Saeed, Ruba Younis, will be reading excerpts from their short stories, which they wrote during the workshop.
It is worth mentioning that the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation is very keen on supporting and fostering young literary talents that use creative writing as a means of expressing themselves and the aspirations and concerns of their society. The Foundation also aims to encourage the genuine values inherent in Arab culture and supporting them to become at the forefront of modern cultural achievements in the Arab world.
The short story writing workshop, moderated by renowned critic and author Islam Boushkeir had released a number of short story collections such as: ‘Al Wajh’ (The Face) by Fatima Al Ameri, ‘Beret Askari’ (Military Beret) by Amal Al Kaabi, ‘Al Nida’ Al Akheer’ (Final Call) by Ruba Younis, ‘Sin Al Feel’ (Elephant Tusk) by Ahmed Abdul Aati Nour, ‘Abyad Ghameq’ (Dark White) by Ahmed Bin Mohammed and ‘Soura A’iliyya’ (Family Photo) by Mariam Sa’eed.
