Al Owais Cultural Foundation to Host Second-hand Book Fair in Collaboration with Kuttab Publishing
On the occasion of Reading Month, the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation, in collaboration with Kuttab Publishing, will host a second-hand book fair during the period from March 28-30, 2022. The event, which will showcase thousands of books in Arabic and English at a promotional price of no more than AED 10, will take place at the Grand Exhibition Hall of Al Owais Cultural Foundation, located in Al Rigga, Dubai.
Moreover, other cultural activities will be held on the sidelines of the book fair, including a book signing ceremony of Dr. Ahmed Al Barqawi’s new book, Al Fikr Al Arabi Al Hadeeth Wal Mu’asir (‘Modern and Contemporary Arab Thought’, published by Kuttab publishing). The book signing event will take place at 7pm on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.
Furthermore, poet and journalist Hussein Darwish will conduct a workshop on ‘Column-Writing’ in collaboration with Knowledge Lounge, which will take place at 10am on Tuesday, March 29, 2022. In addition, a children’s storytelling session featuring author Haya Al Qassim will be held on Wednesday morning, March 30, 2022.
The exhibition, which will be open to the public from 9am to 10 pm, will showcase hundreds of second-hand books in both Arabic and English, aims at promoting a culture of reading within the community and making knowledge and science accessible to all members of society. Through recycling and re-using books, the exhibition offers a wide variety of books to readers of all ages at minimal cost.
