The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC), part of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), has announced its participation in the 27th edition of the Muscat International Book Fair.
The event will be held in the Omani capital from 22nd February to 4th March 2023, with the participation of 826 publishing houses from 32 countries.
The Centre will display a wide range of its publications by local and Arab authors at the Fair and showcase the latest developments in its various publishing and translation projects.
Dr. Ali bin Tamim, Chairman of ALC, said that participation at the Muscat International Book Fair 2023 is part of the Centre’s strategy to engage with audiences and stakeholders at a range of local, Arab, and international cultural events and build cultural bridges with various bodies and institutions to advance the status of the Arabic language and highlight Arabic-language creativity and content.
Also, to strengthen the publishing industry and support the region’s cultural ecosystem by exploring innovative ideas and identifying opportunities for productive new partnerships.
The ALC will showcase a series of publications from its Kalima Translation Project, including significant works translated into Arabic from 21 languages. The project aims to revive the translation movement in the Arab world, support the ongoing cultural renaissance in Abu Dhabi, and provide wider options for Arab readers.
The Muscat International Book Fair hosted 27 countries last year and offered a busy agenda of events, activities, and programmes, including seminars, dialogue sessions, lectures, and evening activities, in addition to book signings for authors and other cultural activities for all ages.
