New Board for Arabic Language Protection Society

The Board of Directors of the Society for the Protection of the Arabic Language held its inaugural meeting for the 2025-2026 term, chaired by Dr. Saeed Obaid Salem Al Tunaiji. Convening at the Society’s headquarters in Sharjah, the meeting marked a renewed commitment to enhancing the status of the Arabic language and preserving its rich heritage.

During the meeting, Dr. Saeed Obaid Salem Al Tunaiji was appointed Chairman, Dr. Aisha Al Ghais as Vice-Chair, Mohammed Shuaib Al Hammadi as Chief Financial and Executive Officer, and Dr. Jamal Yousef Al Zarooni as Secretary.

Additionally, leadership roles for the Society’s cultural and media committees were assigned to members of the Board, with Wafa Nasser Hareb Al Shamsi, Iman Mustafa Mohamed and Hanan Mahmoud Moussa appointed as chairpersons.

This strategic distribution of responsibilities aims to strengthen the Society’s initiatives and advance its mission of safeguarding and promoting the Arabic language.

During the meeting, the board discussed the Society’s future aspirations, emphasizing the importance of enhancing its role in promoting the Arabic language through qualitative events and activities, while addressing cultural and linguistic challenges that may hinder its progress.

Dr. Saeed Al Tunaiji underscored the need to expand collaboration with local government entities and to strengthen the Society’s active presence in various cultural forums dedicated to the Arabic language, thereby solidifying its role as a protective umbrella for linguistic and cultural identity.

The meeting concluded with an emphasis on the upcoming phase, which will feature qualitative initiatives and pioneering projects aimed at promoting the status of the Arabic language in society and reflecting the aspirations of the UAE’s cultural leadership.
