Rahala Band Celebrates Arabic Language Day with “Sung Poems” Concert at Al Owais Cultural Foundation

The Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation came alive with a captivating 90-minute performance that infused the stage with the vibrant energy of youth.

On the unforgettable evening of Friday, December 13, the exceptional “RahalaBand celebrated iconic Arabic poems, bringing to life the rich tapestry of Arab musical heritage. The enthusiastic audience, electrified by the performance, joined in passionately, singing along to timeless lyrics that resonate deeply in their hearts.

The “Sung Poems” concert was organized in celebration of World Arabic Language Day, observed annually on December 18. The songs were performed by talented artists Hala Trad, Rand Naddaf, Laith Atassi, and Ali Al Sheikh, accompanied by an exceptional ensemble of musicians. These included Hassan Nader, Naram Rashed, and Mohammed Qiblawi on violin; Bassem Al Jaber on double bass; Muhammad Sadiq on cello; Al Hadi Jibril on piano; Ali Al Abdullah on qanun; Wissam Al Ali on oud; Amjad Germani on flute; and Askndr Badr and Afif Dahbar on percussion.

 

In a mesmerizing musical performance, the band brought iconic Arabic poems to life, seamlessly blending the timeless beauty of classic Arabic songs with exceptional artistry. The young music ensemble brought to life the essence of Arabic poetry, immortalized by legendary poets whose verses were transformed by iconic singers into enchanting melodies—radiating softness, charm, and sentimental beauty.

The performance featured timeless classics such as Aghadan Alqak (Will I Meet You Tomorrow?) andHathehi Lailaty (This Is My Night) by Umm Kulthum; Ya Jarat Al Wadi (The Neighbor of the Valley) and Madanak by Mohammed Abdel Wahab; Zahrat Al Mada’en (The Flowers of Jerusalem) and Aatini Al-Nay wa-Ghanni (Give Me the Flute and Sing) by Fairuz, alongside Andalusian Muwashahatand other cherished melodies etched in memory.

 

 

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Dr. Fatima Al Sayegh, a member of the Board of Trustees at the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation, presented the Al Owais Memorial Shield to the “Rahalaband. She expressed gratitude for their commitment to reviving the Arabic language, promoting cultural identity, and employing art as a medium to celebrate heritage. Dr. Al Sayegh also conveyed her heartfelt wishes for their continued success.

وأضافت المؤسسة في بيانها:

“علينا أن نتذكر أن العديد من نجوم ونجمات الغناء العرب غنوا باللغة العربية الفُصحى وكان لهم إسهامات كبيرة في هذا المجال، فحوّلوا القصائد الشعرية إلى كلمات مغناة على وقع موسيقي جذاب حمل رسائل فنية وثقافية عكست تنوع الإبداع والمواضيع في المجتمعات العربية.
