The Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation will organize a grand ceremony for Emirati writers to sign their books issued in 2024, on the occasion of Emirati Writer's Day, on Sunday, May 26.
The book signing ceremony will take place at 7pm at the exhibition hall in the Foundation's building on Al Rigga Street in Dubai, in recognition of Emirati writers. Celebration of the Emirati Writer’s Day is an initiative of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah and the Honorary President of the Emirates Writers Union (EWU).
May 26 coincides with the founding day of the Emirates Writers Union in 1984. It recognizes Emirati writers and their intellectual and humanitarian efforts, as well as their pioneering role in literature and community development.
The day celebrates and honors Emirati writers and their publications, acknowledging their new literary productions that enrich the literary and cultural arena. It aims to disseminate and deepen the culture of writing and publication, as well as the literary production industry, among Emirati writers and intellectual figures.
The day, which also aims to instill and strengthen love for the nation in children, is dear to every Emirati writer who cherishes and values the written word.
The Al Owais Cultural Foundation has invited dozens of Emirati writers to join this exceptional event to sign their books published in 2024. The event will turn into a cultural and social ritual during which creative generations will communicate with each other, allowing veteran writers to meet young writers. The writers will enjoy a cultural atmosphere to exchange ideas and opinions in a family-like environment that reflects a state of national gathering of intellectuals and authors. The event celebrates the efforts of Emirati writers and their pioneering role in social development and enhancing loyalty and love for the nation.
The Foundation’s initiative of inviting UAE writers to the event comes in appreciation and respect for every creative person who enriched the library with literary products and strengthened the presence of the Emirati personality in cultural forums in the country and beyond.
It also reflects the Foundation’s approach to support serious writers who play a active role in developing awareness and appreciation for every person who uses the soft power to consolidate national values in the hearts of readers and emphasizes the significant role of culture in national development and progress of nations.
