Veteran Kuwaiti poet Abdulaziz Saud Al Babtain has passed away today (Friday), December 15, 2023, at the age of 87.
The late poet, who served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Abdulsziz Saud Al Babtain Cultural Foundation, departed after leaving a remarkable legacy of cultural and humanitarian contributions.
He was the President of the Council Members of Al Batain Cultural Foundation in the European Union and served as a member of several councils and associations active in various fields.
Abdulaziz Saud Al Babtain was awarded 14 honorary PhD certificates from prestigious universities and academic institutions in recognition of his dedicated efforts in the cultural field and humanitarian action as well as his support to promoting the culture of peace and intercultural dialogue.
He also received numerous prestigious accolades, mementos and awards in appreciation of his efforts in the field of culture in Arab and international forums.
Born in 1963, Abdulaziz Saud Al Babtain was passionate and widely interested in Arabic culture, literature and poetry, since his early childhood. He was influenced by his father and brother, who played a major role in fostering his love and interest in literature.
He published his first collection, “Bouh Al Bawadi” (Intimations of the Desert) in 1995, and his second collection, “A Traveler in the Wasteland” (Musafir Fi Al Qifar) in 2004.
