His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on Wednesday inaugurated the 25th edition of the Sharjah Islamic Arts Festival at the Sharjah Art Museum.
This year’s edition features 50 artists from 25 countries led by the UAE . The participating Arab artists are from Iraq, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Kuwait, Syria, Lebanon, Bahrain and Jordan.
Other artists from foreign countries, including Spain, Poland, Turkey, Colombia, the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Argentina.
His Highness Sheikh Sultan toured the exhibition, getting acquainted with the artists and hearing them describe their work, its most prominent connotations and meanings, and how the works mirror the festival’s theme.
The festival organises 132 events, including exhibitions, workshops, and lectures, hosted by the Department of Culture in cooperation with 18 entities in Sharjah.
The activities include 47 exhibitions by Sharjah Art Museum, Sharjah Calligraphy Museum, Kalba Beach, Khorfakkan Amphitheater, alongside 81 artistic workshops.
