The Board of Trustees of the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation held its first meeting for 2022 on Monday, January 26, 2022 at the premises of Al Owais Cultural Foundation. The meeting was chared by His Excellency Dr. Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, and was attended by HE Dr. Sulaiman Mousa Al Jassim, Vice Chairman; HE Abdul Ghaffar Hussein, HE Humaid Bin Nasser Al Owais; HE Najla Al Awar; HE Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Owais; HE Abdullah Sultan Al Owais; Nasser Al Thaheri; Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Mutawa (Member of the General Secretariat); Dr. Fatima Al Sayegh (Treasurer); Nasser Hussein Al Abboudi and Abdul Hamid Ahmed (Secretary-General). At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Gargash greeted all the attendees and welcomed Mr. Ibrahim Al Hashemi, the new Executive Director of the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation.
Moreover, the Board approved the minutes of the previous meeting, reviewed the annual administrative and financial reports for 2021 and approved the estimated budget for 2022. Furthermore, after long deliberations and discussions about the shortlisted candidates for the Al Owais Cultural and Scientific Achievement Award, the Board decided to grant the award in this session to Asilah Forum Foundation; which is a non-governmental organization that works on strengthening dialogue between cultures and civilizations all over the world and actively promotes culture within the community through organizing activities and events.
In addition, the Board unanimously reiterated its confidence in HE Dr. Anwar Mohammed Gargash as Chairman of the Board of Trustees and HE Dr. Sulaiman Mousa Al Jassim as Vice Chairman as well as Members of the General Secretariat, thanking them for their great efforts during the previous period and recommended that they continue as members, including Abdel Hamid Ahmed (Secretary General); Fatima Al Sayegh (Treasurer and Member of the General Secretariat) and Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Mutawa (Member of the General Secretariat).
In conclusion, the Board expressed hopes that the cultural activities of the Foundation continue to develop and evolve to become more comprehensive and reflect the identity of the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation. The Board also advised that the mechanism of the Awards is to be reviewed and that the rules and regulations are to be updated.
