The Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation has hosted the opening of “A Picture is a Poem without Words” exhibition in cooperation with The Guild of Indian Artists in the UAE on Wednesday, May 9, at the exhibition hall of Al Owais Cultural Foundation in Deira, Dubai.
The opening ceremony was attended by HE Abdul Hamid Ahmed, Secretary General of the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation, Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Mutawa, Member of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, as well as a large number of artists, art enthusiasts, journalists and Indian expats.
The exhibition showcased the work of 16 artists representing different artistic trends and genres, whereby oil paintings were presented next to ceramic sculptures, which included a fascinating sculpture of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan – May Allah rest his soul in peace, made by Indian artist Nisar Ibrahim, which drew the attention and admiration of visitors of the exhibition.
The exhibition underlines the keenness of Al Owais Cultural Foundation to actively connect with other cultures and civilizations around the world and to promote art and culture. The Foundations efforts are part of the general culture of tolerance observed in the UAE, which aims at building cultural bridges with different nationalities residing in the UAE.
It is worth mentioning that in the aim of promoting art and culture, a group of Indian artists and art connoisseurs formed the Guild in UAE 2010. Since its inception, the Guild has been conducting painting exhibitions, workshops, experimental sessions, discussions and other related activities on a regular basis. The Guild provides artists with a platform to showcase their talent and promote their work and also helps them to sell it. The Guild is the result of committed individuals who are passionate about art and pursue it as a way of life. The exhibition showcased artworks by artists Kumar Chadayamangalam, Lidhin Dharmarajan, Narayan, Nisar Ibrahim, Vineeth. E, Ramesh Vellinezhi, Sadasivan Ambalamedu, Abu Muhammad, Sheena, Shehanas C.K., Murali Nettissery, Rasheed Kuniyil, Susanth Beypore, Shaf Beypore, Dhanesh T.P. and Uday Russelpuram.
