Famous Egyptian comedian El-Montaser Bellah passed away on Saturday at the age of 70 after a long struggle with illness.
Many artists, critics, fans and institutions have expressed mourning for the artist, who first flourished in the 1970s, appearing in dozens of films, theatre plays and TV series, some of which are among Egypt’s classics. He continued working until 2008, when he suffered a brain stroke.

His memorable appearances include Sharihan’s musicals; ‘Mohamed Ali Street’, ‘Alashan Khater Oyounak’ and Sohir El-Bably’s ‘El-Alma Basha’, in addition to films like Sobhi and Lebleba’s ‘Al-Shaitanah Allaty Ahabbatny’ and Ahmed Zakis ‘Dedd El-Hokoumah’, as well as memorable roles in 90s TV hits like Arabesque and ‘Ana Wenta W-Baba Fil Meshmesh.’
