Egyptian novelist Youssef Al Qa’eed has denied rumors of his death, describing some social media accounts as being brutal.

In a phone interview with Al Nahar TV channel, the famed author said: “I have nothing to do with social media and I don’t know how to deal with it. The rumors that have been circulating are very unfortunate, especially that they are spreading false information not just about me being ill but rather about my death.” “I am well. And may Allah protect us,” he added.

It is worth mentioning that Egyptian novelist Youssef Al Qa’eed, born in 1944, had won Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Award in the “Short Stories, Novel and Drama”category for the 14th session (2014-2015). His novels reflect the concerns of the Arab nation and express the social, political, economic and psychological worries of the Arab people. Some of his most famous works include: Al Harb fee Bar Misr (War in the Egyptian Desert), Yahdoth fee Misr Al Aan (Taking Place in Egypt Now) and Shakawi Al Masri Al Faseeh (Complaints of the Eloquent Egyptian).

In 2014, novelist Youssef Al Qa’eed was appointed as a Member of Parliament by presidential decree from Egyptian president Abdel Fattah Al Sisi. In previous statements, he said this decision was a surprise to him and explained that he had visited the parliament twice in his life, once when he interviewed late Dr. Rif’at Al Mahgoub for a French magazine, and the second time was with Dr. Fathi Suroor, former Speaker of the Egyptian parliament.
